--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you a full time blogger? How did you get into blogging and why?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With my 4 year old daughter I hardly get too much time for writing, I try to maintain atleast 3-4 posts per week… My first writing was almost 10 years back, since then I used to write now and then, though it turned online just 6 months back.. Just on the go while browsing did I come across Anuradha’s blog and that inspired me to start my online writing. My husband is passionate about photography, my blog also helped me in showcasing his photographs. After I started writing I have got in touch with so many people from around the world, I have come closer to nature and been able to explore so many places.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To keep up the pace of your writing it’s always better to write on what you are interested in, be it travel, food and recipe, photography, technology… Starting some series and participating in memes would help in blogging, were in you have a topic in hand to continue with your posts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you build a community around a blog and social media?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Participating in memes also help in building community, a facebook page and twitter account would help attract impressions… Not to forget Indiblogger and BlogAdda which are big platforms for bloggers to build community.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why Punishment For Rape?

 :- Guest Post

Rape is about power, not sex. Both men and women of any age can be raped. Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse which is initiated by one or more persons against another person without other person’s consent. The media & source give statistical counts of number of rapes, and as per the counts number of rapes is increasing in India and especially incidence of child rape cases is increasing.

There was a 336 % increase in the child rape in 2001-2011 and a large number of crimes committed to be said in Juvenile homes aided by government. As per the records in Citing National Crime Records bureau the number of child sexual records if said is 48,338 in India is the last decade. And most of the times we don’t even come to know about the incidence or the victim. It doesn’t come into light; People hesitate to report it to the police. How far are we aware of this?

WHY PUNISHMENT FOR RAPE?

When will the time come when a father gets the courage to send his daughter outside the house after 7 in the evening? We are in the tip of it; it’s the time for changing the fear in people’s mind. It’s the time to stop the pain, the harassment, the violence. The response of public is reflex, and they want to severely punish the culprits. But is punishment the ultimate remedy for all these? How can punishment help in preventing such incidents in future? Ignorance still continues. And several hundred remain unnoticed suffering silent victim.

What I feel can be done is counseling, not mere punishment. We have to make them know their mistake first. Mistake doesn’t happen just like that. It’s important to know how they are brought up, no body just don’t rape someone. We all have feelings inside us, we overcome them. If someone feel so much urge or tendency to sexual intercourse and can’t overcome it or control the feelings that means that he/she has got a problem. And the problem is mental according to me. The way a person is brought up frames the life, our behavior and activities throughout our life depends on our childhood. The family, environment and society with which a person is grown up certainly plays role. It’s like seed of characters sowing in a person. We have to correct a person. We have to make person know the right and the wrong. If we go on punishing the rape culprits, it will take to no way. Certainly they will be punished for their crime, but they will never realize the fault. And it goes on in other part of the country. They have to correct themselves and lead a normal life. It’s tough; it’s difficult but not an impossible task. We have to dig and know what made them to become like that.

Let’s educate every common man and women; there should be complete awareness in every village, towns and cities. People should avoid doing the crime not because of fear, or because of punishment but because of the knowledge and dignity and respect we have for others. There was times when we were taught in our school pledge, that ‘India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters’. People forget little things we are taught in our school. We must make them remember, to prevent them making such attempts.
It’s time for a beginning. Let’s start this now.
Jai hind, please feel free to say upon this.

Blogger Interview # 95 : Sofia Byrd

Blogger Interview # 95 : Sofia Byrd

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your blog?
My name is Sofia. I am married to a wonderful man; I'm a mother to two little boys; I'm a pretend cook and an aspiring photographer. From PDX with Love  is where I share my random thoughts on parenting and every day stories in my life.

Are you a full time blogger? How did you get into blogging and why?
I put a lot of work and effort into my blog (with content, interaction, and social media). There are days where it feels like blogging is all I do. But I wouldn't call myself a full time blogger. I have two little boys and they are, and will always be, my main focus. We love to baked,  go to the park and take long walks. I always try to include these activities in my blog.

I first started blogging when my husband and I moved to Vancouver, BC in November of 2006 in ways to keep our friends and family updated on our whereabouts. I took a year long sabbatical. When my oldest son was born, 2008, I brought the blog back to share all his whereabouts to, mainly, my family who live in Texas. It has since evolved into a bigger blog where I not only share their silly stories but mine as well.

If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
Don't be afraid to speak. Find your voice. Interact, connect, create content. Don't try to be the next "it" blogger, it will be stressful and frustrating. Make friends with other bloggers in your niche. But above it all, just be yourself!

Oh, and also, include photos in your posts! People love photographs. don't be afraid to use your own even if they are not the best out there (we've all been there, you know?).

How do you build a community around a blog and social media?
A blog cannot live on its own. It doesn't matter how amazing your content may be, if there is no one to see it it practically doesn't exist. This is where the community comes into place, to help you out to find encouragement, inspiration, even friendship, and to help grow your blog. Of course, it is not all handed to you in a silver platter. If you don't reciprocate you will be left behind.

I use social media for many different purposes. Twitter is a great way to chat with your pals and/or followers. Silly one liners are awesome on Twitter. Facebook is great way to share not only your own content but anything else that might inspire. The blogger community needs from everyone to grow, so spreading the share love with others, even when not asked for, is always welcome. Google+ is also a great way to share your finds. Not everyone uses it but it is a great way for Google to find your content. Pinterest is a great microblogging site where you can showcase your content, find content, and procrastinate to a great level (main reason why I try to not go to Pinterest on a daily basis).

What are your three favorite blogs to read? What makes those blogs special?
There are so many and every month I find even more to add to my list! But if I had to choose 3 blogs they'd be:
  • Live and Love Out Loud » Kristi is an extraordinary and strong woman who has gone through tough times and still shines as bright as the sun! Plus, her photography is beyond words!! When I grow up I was to be as great as she is!
  • The Paper Mama » I lurk Chelsey's blog here and there but I am always stunned by her photographs (and how we never crossed paths while I lived in Portland, we were practically neighbors!). I often find inspiration in her blog.
  • Project Alicia  » Alicia's images are beautiful! I always use her photos as inspiration. They help me find new angles to photograph daily life.

Which one plugin would you suggest all bloggers to have?
You are making me choose only one?! ;) Oh well...I have quite a few but lets go with Google Analyticator which will add the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google Analytics.
